Arsenal legend and former French International, Robert Pires recently stated that Manchester City’s Jeremy Doku is superior to Bukayo Saka. According to Pires, Saka still needs to demonstrate more consistency and experience for becoming a game-changer in crucial matches.

In an interview with Wettbasis.com, Pires, a two-time Premier League winner with the North Londoners, suggested that the Englishman is still missing a layer of consistency and experience in his game and urged him to step up in this term’s Champions League campaign.

“Bukayo still lacks a certain level of consistency and experience, especially in the big games. Perhaps this season, especially in the Champions League, he will show a more convincing face than last season when it counts," Pires stated.

It's worth noting that Reims-born Pires made a surprising claim that Doku is a superior player to Saka. Pires cited Doku's technical ability, better dribbling skills, and enhanced imagination as attributes that set him apart.

“For example, in my opinion Jeremy Doku from Manchester City is a bit better because he is technically stronger, has better dribbling skills and is more imaginative," Pires added.

Story of Statistics

The London-born 23-year-old, Saka played a crucial role in Mikel Arteta’s consecutive title pursuits, contributing 59 goals and 56 assists in his 229-game senior career, including 16 goals in the 23/24 season, since emerging from Hale End academy.

Widely considered as one of the best wingers in the Premier League right now, Saka has started the current campaign brightly, notching the solitary goal and trio of assists and will, no doubt, be pivotal in the Gunners’ quest for silverware.

Last season, Saka had found the net 16 times as compared to Doku's 3 goals. Saka also assisted 9 times in comparison to Belgium's wingers 8 assists.

Saka also excels in key passes per game with 2.6, compared to Doku's 1.6. While Doku is known for his dribbling abilities, Saka completed 1.4 dribbles per game, whereas Doku completed 3 per game last term, making him the clear winner in this category. Saka also excels over Doku in Defensive duties as evidenced by his much better tackles and interception rate per game.
