Mikel Arteta has extended his commitment to Arsenal by signing a new contract that will keep him at the Emirates Stadium until 2027.
Arteta's previous contract was set to expire at the end of this season, but both parties have taken steps to remove any uncertainty by agreeing to a three-year extension. This development will significantly boost Arsenal as they prepare for Sunday's match against local rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the north London derby.
Arteta has played a significant role in the club's progress since taking over as head coach in late 2019 and later assuming the title of manager.

Arteta's Accolades with Arsenal
In 2020, he led Arsenal to victory in the FA Cup and brought the team back to the Champions League in 2023 after a seven-year absence by securing second place in the Premier League only behind Manchester City.
Arteta's team finished as runners-up to City again last season. Arteta was born in San Sebastian and is a product of the Barcelona youth system. He is a former Arsenal captain and has been in his current role for over five years.
In March, the 42-year-old achieved his 100th Premier League win as a manager, reaching the milestone 10 games faster than former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger and only seven behind Sir Alex Ferguson. The record is held by Pep Guardiola. After concluding his on-field career at Arsenal in 2016, Arteta joined City under Guardiola and won two top-flight titles and one League Cup.
Arsenal is off to a flyer in the 2024-25 season
Arteta had a strong start to the 2024-25 Premier League campaign. However, their perfect start was halted by Brighton & Hove Albion just before the international break, when Declan Rice received a red card for a second caution.
Arsenal will be facing Tottenham without Mikel Merino, who sustained a shoulder injury in training. Additionally, both Riccardo Calafiori and captain Martin Odegaard picked up injuries while representing their countries.
