After Real Madrid lost to Espanyol on Saturday night, they were outraged because Carlos Romero's late victory cost them three points. However, after the game, Los Blancos took full credit for the officiating, pointing out that Romero was not sent out for a reckless challenge. Real Madrid has now released a video in which the world is discussing why Carlos Romero was out sent off on that harsh tackle on Kylian Mbappe.

Following the game, Carlo Ancelotti said it was "inexplicable that Romero was not sent off," and the club's official media report featured the same call to keep the Espanyol wide player on the field. Romero, who was lucky to escape as Kylian Mbappe broke away, surged in with his studs visible at thigh height.

Real Madrid TV has now issued a film in which Los Blancos refers to the incident as a big crisis and provides reasons based on international media reporting. Regarding the ongoing corruption scandal involving former Vice-President of the Referees Committee (CTA) Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira and payments made to him by Barcelona, they further claim that "La Liga is stained by Negreira."

Watch the video here:

Rafael Louzan, the president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), publicly disclosed a few days ago that he had been under pressure from Real Madrid's Florentino Perez to change the CTA and possibly even import English referees. Real Madrid's stance on the issue is unlikely to receive much attention from the RFEF, as the previous two seasons have seen a constant agenda of criticizing referees regardless of how the choices have played out during a game.

UEFA Champions League challange awits for Real Madrid

However, Romero's challenge, was reasonable to Real Madrid, as similar challenges in the past have undoubtedly justified dismissals in La Liga. Real Madrid has suffered two consecutive defeats in La Liga. They have to get soon on track as they face Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League play-offs. Since Antonio Rudiger is injured Real Madrid will have to find a way of winning the game as Manchester City will go for a win.
