After a number of contentious calls went against his team in Sunday's 3-2 Super Lig victory against Trabzonspor, Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho claimed that the video assistant referee has transformed from the invisible guy to the most significant player on the field.
After VAR interventions, Trabzonspor was given two penalties during the second half. Late in the game, with the score level 2-2, Mourinho became enraged after a tackle on Bright Osayi-Samuel went unnoticed. Atilla Karaoglan, the VAR, may have missed the event because he was sipping coffee, according to the Portuguese coach.
When Sofyan Amrabat struck deep during stoppage time, the visitor won despite having last-minute penalty appeals dismissed. The former manager of Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Manchester United rushed onto the field and celebrated with a knee slide.
Jose Mourinho said, “The referee was just a little boy on the pitch, but the referee was Atilla Karaoglan, so man of the match. He goes from the invisible man to the most important man in the match.”
Karaoglan should never officiate another Fenerbahce match, according to Jose Mourinho. The former Chelsea head coach added, “He was alert to give the two penalty decisions (to Trabzonspor) when the referee didn’t give, then was having Turkish tea when it was a clear penalty for us and didn’t give it. I think I am speaking on behalf of every Fenerbahce fan, we don’t want him again.”
“Not many people outside of Turkey watch Turkish league” : Jose Mourinho
After the game Jose Mourinho posted the video of the challenge along with the video as he said, "Not many people outside of Turkey watch Turkish league matches. I will post it on my Instagram and millions of people will see it."

During his post-match interview, he added, “I blame the Fenerbahce people that brought me here! They told me only half of the truth. They didn’t tell me the whole truth, because if they told me the whole truth I wouldn’t come! But with half of the truth, with my boys we fight the opponent, we fight the system.”
