Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha has decided to leave the club and join Bundesliga club Bayern Munich. He was two seasons at Craven Cottage and has long been linked with Bayern. The Bavarian side believes Palhinha is the perfect addition to add some toughness to their midfield in their bid to reclaim the Bundesliga crown from Bayer Leverkusen.

Following the announcement of a €45 million (£38 million/$48 million) bid, the 28-year-old has made it clear that he, too, wants to make the transition. The Bavarians did not have the best of the season as they finished third in the league and went trophyless for the first time since 2012. They appointed Vincent Kompany the Belgian manager has pen downed three years of contract with the club till 2027. He replaces Thomas Tuchel at the Allianz Arena, with the German coach failing to secure a trophy.

Before the summer window, they have shortlisted some incomings and outgoings for the 2024/25 season. According to Sky Sports Germany's Florian Plettenberg, the six players in question are Matthijs de Ligt, Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry, and Noussair Mazraoui. These are the six players who could leave immediately if suitable offers come, but more players may move this summer.

Both clubs know where I want to be in a month: Joao Palhinha

Speaking before Portugal play with Slovenia in the European Championships round of 16, Palhinha was asked about his future at Fulham. He said simply: "As far as my future is concerned, both clubs know where I want to be in a month."

Palhinha was on the verge of securing his planned move last summer, having even undergone a physical in Germany, but the clubs were unable to agree on a fee, and the deal fell through. Following the aborted transfer, Palhinha signed a new contract in west London, but less than a year later, he is willing to go again.
