Ahead of tonight's crucial encounter involving Real Madrid and Liverpool, Trent Alexander-Arnold's rumored transfer to Real Madrid remains one of the most talked-about topics. Arne Slot's team enters the contest with a perfect record in the UEFA Champions League, having won every game thus far. The two European powerhouses square off in the competition.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, is now ranked twenty-first in the standings after winning two of their four games thus far and losing both of their remaining contests. But during the past few seasons in the competition, the Spanish team has outperformed the Reds, including defeating them twice during the final under the Jurgen Klopp era.
When these two teams last faced off, it was in the 2022–2023 competition's Round of 16, where Madrid defeated Liverpool 6-2 overall, including 5-2 at Anfield. Since the international break, Trent has missed Liverpool's games due to injury, including this past weekend's match against Southampton. Slot, however, hinted at a possible comeback versus the La Liga powerhouses, and he did resume training prior to the Madrid match.
“I’ll be playing alongside him next season” : Jude Bellingham
Jude Bellingham, a close companion and England teammate, was questioned about the rumors that Trent was considering a move to Madrid before the match, given the tight connections. Bellingham, however, maintained that discussing Trent Alexander-Arnold's future at Liverpool would be disrespectful. Jude Bellingham responded as follows when asked if he could see himself playing alongside Alexander-Arnold at Real Madrid the next season (quotes via Liverpool Echo).
The former Borussia Dortmund midfielder said, “I’ll be playing alongside him next season for England anyway. That will be a guarantee. But he’s a Liverpool player and it would be disrespectful to come to his home today with a big game tomorrow and talk about something that could be misconstrued, so it’s important to take that pressure off him. I want him to do really well normally. Just not tomorrow.”
