'If it was sent last year...' Raphinha reveals a drastic decision he almost took in 2024

As Barcelona prepares itself for the ultimate clash against arch-rivals Real Madrid at Estadio de La Cartuja, the team's skipper made a stark revelation. Barcelona's captain Raphinha disclosed a drastic decision he could have pursued in 2024. 

FC Barcelona have a treble in their sights this season as the club is active in all European competitions. Raphinha is set to lead the side in his first cup final on April 26th.

Raphinha made a striking revelation 

The Brazilian winger disclosed that he received a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia just two days prior to the final but emphasised that his motivations are no longer centred on financial gain.

Raphinha revealed that he was informed of a substantial offer from Saudi Arabia. He further asserted that had the offer been placed on his table a year ago, he would have headed to Saudi Arabia. He later added that his ambitions have taken a drastic turn over the past 365 days and that now such offers don't fancy him, as he is more driven by the goals he seeks than money.

 "Yesterday, someone sent me news of the offer from Saudi Arabia. Honestly, I think I would have accepted the offer if it had been sent last year. I was struggling mentally, and it was life-changing money for my family." Raphinha said.

"Now, my mind is closed to money and open to dreams," he declared.

Raphinha underwent a horrendous last season as he grappled with mental struggles while trying to meet the expectations at one of the world’s most prestigious clubs. However, this season has seen a dramatic turnaround. Hansi Flick has turned Raphinha into a goal-scoring machine. Raphinha has flourished in a dynamic and fluid system that effectively capitalises on his strengths. He has already reached the tally of 30 goals and 23 assists in just 49 appearances across all competitions. He is positioned as one of the forerunners for the Ballon d'Or.

He will take the field hoping to add his first Copa del Rey title when he leads Barcelona in the finals against the Galacticos.
