Erik ten Hag sack

Erik ten Hag's future as manager of Manchester United is once again under scrutiny following the team's dismal season debut. Despite spending a lot of money on transfers throughout the summer, Manchester United has not improved as demonstrated by their losses to Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.

The club supported Ten Hag by adding new players at nearly every position throughout the summer, but he hasn't been able to make it function. The Red Devils lost their opening game of the season at Old Trafford against FC Twente in both the Premier League and the UEFA Europa League.

The club administration is extremely concerned about this, as they find themselves in a difficult situation with regard to the Dutch manager's future. Reports claim that if Manchester United were to fire Ten Hag, they would have to reimburse him for £17.5 million. The club would have only needed to pay the manager about £10 million if they had chosen to fire him in June.

After finishing eighth in the league the previous season, the Man United manager's position was finally saved by winning the FA Cup versus Manchester City. However, the crushing loss to Tottenham at Old Trafford put pressure back on him. Ten Hag, who has two trophies during his tenure at Old Trafford, was chosen to stay by the Red Devils despite Mauricio Pochettino and Thomas Tuchel allegedly having discussions with them this summer.

Erik ten Hag’s football with no real identity?

Football analysts and fans have been critical of Ten Hag's tactical skills and his inability to establish a cohesive playing philosophy for the squad in a considerable amount of time.

Ten Hag is finding it harder to avoid criticism now that Arne Slot at Liverpool and Enzo Maresca at Chelsea are off to such fast starts. It doesn't seem like things will get any simpler for him in the future, and the club will find it difficult to get rid of him given the large compensation they will have to pay.
