'How can I accept a player…’ -Enzo Maresca opines about his involvement on transfers

After leaving Leicester City Enzo Maresca joined Chelsea. Since May 2022, when Todd Boehly took over, he has spent over 1 billion euros on transfers trying to build the young squad. During the last season, Mauricio Pochettino was sacked by the club even though he secured the European spot as Chelsea finished in the sixth position in the Premier League. However, after an impressive run, he was sacked.

Ahead of the new Premier League season, Chelsea had appointed Enzo Maresca who was the manager of Leicester City. With that, he secured promotion back to the Premier League. In 2016 Leicester City were the champions of the Premier League but during the 2022/23 season, they were demoted from the Premier League.

As the summer transfer window is open, Chelsea has signed a goalkeeper from Villareal. Filip Jorgensen joined Chelsea last week as the club announced. Chelsea signed him for 21 million euros. During his first season with Villareal, he made 37 appearances and had 6 six clean-sheet. Though he is the second-choice keeper for Chelsea. Meanwhile, three weeks are still left for the transfer window to get over Chelsea's new manager Enzo Maresca has stated that he is not sure about the new signings.

Enzo Maresca shares his thoughts on transfer window

Ahead of their friendly clash against Real Madrid in the United States in the pre-match press conference Enzo Maresca was asked about what is club's process in the transfer window. According to Fabrizio Romano, Enzo Maresca stated, "How can I accept a player that doesn't fit into the idea I want to play? I don't think there is any manager in the world not involved in the decision. The squad is very good but if there is a chance to do more, we will do". 

He also said if there is any opportunity Chelsea will look into it and will be more business in this season to bring good players in the club. During the pre-season tour, Chelsea had lost to Manchester City by scoring 4-2 as Erling Haaland scored a hat-trick in the game.
