Cristiano Ronaldo, the current Al-Nassr striker, has been subjected to criticism by former Galactos star Antonio Cassano, who suggested that Ronaldo "doesn't know how to play football." Despite such comments, it's undeniable that Ronaldo's impressive career, including five Ballon d'Or awards and numerous records, has solidified his status as one of the all-time greats in football. His legacy is sure to go down in the history books long after he decides to retire from the sport.

Cassano's take on Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo, the current Al-Nassr centre-forward, has been the subject of criticism from former Real Madrid star Antonio Cassano implying that the Portuguese doesn't know how to play football

In a podcast, former Galactos player Cassano asserted that Cristiano Ronaldo did not know how to play football. He believed other players like Higuain, Aguero, Benzema, Lewandowski, Ibrahimovic and Suarez were better at linking up with the team. Cassano felt that the above-mentioned players offered more on the pitch than Cristiano Ronaldo whose primary objective was always scoring goals.

“Cristiano Ronaldo doesn't know how to play football. He could score 3000 goals, I don't give a f*ck. [Gonzalo] Higuain, [Sergio] Aguero, [Karim] Benzema, [Robert] Lewandowski, [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic and [Luis] Suarez knew how to link up with the team. They knew how to do a lot of things, unlike Ronaldo whose only objective has always been to score.” - Cassano asserted.

Cassano has never been an admirer of Ronaldo

This is not the First time Cassano has been critical of Cristiano Ronaldo. In 2022, he suggested Ronaldo walk away from competitive action. He believed the time had come for Ronaldo to hang up his boots after years of being a phenomenon on the football pitch.

"A guy like Cristiano has to think about himself and if you can't do it anymore then you have to call it a day. It's a rule in all sports. Retire, that's enough! He has won everything, he has been a phenomenon, he has earned a lot of money and now he is not a starter at Manchester United.” - he said back in 2022.
