The Greece international George Baldock, 31, tragically passed away at his home in Athens on Wednesday evening after drowning in his swimming pool. His devastated partner, Annabel Dignam, and their son Brody are left to mourn his loss.

The cause of George Baldock's death has been confirmed as drowning. Annabel Dignam, his heartbroken fiancee, has honoured the footballer with a moving tribute, describing him as her 'soulmate' and the 'perfect dad'. Outside Bramall, tributes have been laid for the former Sheffield United player. At Wembley, Greece players held up a shirt in memory of George Baldock.

An Emotional message from Annabel

Annabel recently shared an Instagram post in memory of Baldock shortly after his cause of death was confirmed. "George, the love of my life, my soulmate. The perfect dad to our beautiful boy. You completed me. You were my world and I know we were yours. You are here with me in Brody's smile, giggle and infectious personality. My world will never be the same but I will find a way for Brody. I promise. I love you forever and always", wrote Annabel.

"You were the most special father, fiancee, son, brother, uncle, friend, teammate and person. Your enthusiasm and infectious personality brought so much love to those who were fortunate enough to know you and those who adored you from the stands. You were due to fly home today for us to celebrate his first birthday together, but instead, we mourn your loss", she added.

Notably, in the Instagram post she included a heartwarming photo of the couple, capturing a happy moment together. Baldock's family also disclosed that the talented footballer, who had relocated to Greece to join Panathinaikos FC, had plans to return to the UK to celebrate his birthday on Thursday. Annabel initially grew concerned when she hadn't heard from her fiancé. After her attempts to reach him were unsuccessful, she asked the owner of their residence in Glyfada to check on him where he was found deceased.
