Arsenal has been cautioned by Gary Neville that failing to win trophies could cause them to be forgotten. The Gunners have improved dramatically over the past three Premier League campaigns, but they haven't won the title.

Despite playing brilliantly, breaking records, and going on winning runs, Mikel Arteta's team has not yet won the Premier League. Their failure to compete with Manchester City is a major contributing factor to this. Arsenal has a chance to momentarily pass the reigning champions at the very top of the standings this coming weekend.

Arsenal will lead the league if they win their next game, but a setback could give Manchester City an opportunity to catch up to Arteta's team by five points. Even if this game might not have an impact on the final standings of the season, Neville thinks that Arsenal will go down in history if they don't take home a trophy, despite their outstanding performances.

Gary Neville said, “If this superb Arsenal team doesn’t win the Premier League or the Champions League then they can forget about going down in history.”

The former Manchester United defender added, ‘That’s harsh but the reality of elite sport. No one will fondly recall the magnificence of William Saliba and Gabriel at the back, the brilliance of Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice, David Raya’s extraordinary saves or the incision of Bukayo Saka up front. There will be no Netflix documentaries. They will never be feted or admired. They will be dismissed as nearly men.’

“The quarter-final is the target” : Mauricio Pochettino

The news that Mauricio Pochettino wants to take the United States to the 2026 World Cup quarterfinals stunned Gary Neville. Gregg Berhalter was replaced as USMNT manager earlier this month by Pochettino. Given his past high-profile positions at PSG as well as Chelsea following his departure from Tottenham in 2019, some were taken aback by his appointment.

Pochettino spoke to Gary Neville in the Over the Lap Podcast as he said, "The truth is, the quarter-final is the target. They were very clear, and I am very honest to translate. I think that was the idea, the challenge. They know that it's going to be difficult, but I am a person, and we are people that we really believe that we can add things to a group that is talented – that they can perform better. Yes, we accept the challenge.
