England have yet again failed to win a game in the UEFA Euro 2024, as the three Lions were held back for a 0-0 draw in their final group game against Slovenia. Despite being in a relatively easier group the 2020 edition finalists have not found their form so far in the tournament. They were named as one of the favourites to win the major tournament this time in Germany but it looks very different for them since they have only won one game so far.

Gareth Southgate's coaching tactics have been under huge scrutiny with the fans responding with boos at both half-time and full-time. Some also chose to throw cups at the England boss. However, the 53-year-old has asked the supporters to stick by the team. After the draw against Slovenia former Euro winner Marco van Basten has revealed shocking facts about the English footballers that have been participating in the tournament.

The 1988 Ballon d'Or winner previously termed the Three Lions the favourites of the tournament, during the game against Slovenia he watched England like a 'snoozefest.' With the squad depth and qualities they have in their team, Southgate's men have not performed as a team. Team bonding has been missing amongst the footballers.

England to face Netherlands in RO16?

Basten said, "Watching England doesn't make me happy. There is never a surprise play by any player, this is why it's snoozefest." The players lack the element of surprise among them, which makes watching the Three Lions look boring. At present the top 4 of England in the 20023/24 season have a combined 165 G/A in club football, but they have lacked the creativity in the attacking third and the chemistry has also been missing among the footballers.

The 53-year-old manager has not been able to manage the team and there have been multiple failures with fitting in the right footballer in the right place and over-relying on Harry Kane to score goals rather than making the game more fluid in the attacking half. Southgate's team will be facing either the Netherlands or Slovakia in the knockout round.
