Real Madrid's 'Centre-Back' Issue

Real Madrid is currently facing a dilemma in their centre-back position due to several injuries. Eder Militao has been sidelined for the remaining season, while David Alaba is still in the recovery phase following ACL surgery, and a return date is yet to be determined. Aurelien Tchouameni, who has filled in successfully when needed, is grappling with a persistent ankle issue. Additionally, Dani Carvajal, who could have offered critical support, has also been ruled out for the season following a serious knee injury sustained in October.

The 21-year-old has proven himself exceptionally well since joining the Madrid lineup, standing out as arguably the only player to make an impression during the challenging match at Anfield. He has also shown his mettle across a series of La Liga fixtures.

Florentino Perez to extend Asencio's contract

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is actively overseeing the contract renewal of 21-year-old defender Raul Asencio, demonstrating a strong commitment to securing his future with the club.

Recent reports from Defensa Central indicate that Pérez is focused on securing Asencio’s future at the club with a long-term contract that acknowledges his increasing significance to the team.

The proposed agreement is expected to have a duration of four to five years and include a release clause of €500 million. Asencio’s salary is anticipated to be around €2 million per season, which is considered modest relative to Real Madrid's standards, despite his notable performances. This figure, however, marks a significant advancement for the young defender, whose current contract extends until 2026. Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti will rely on Asencio for the rest of the season.
