With FC Barcelona confirming Xavi Hernandez's extension as manager for a further season, talks about a new head coach are being put on hold for the time being. However, it seems like Barcelona is already putting together a list of prospects that will replace the former playmaker when his current deal expires in 2025.

As a result, a report says that FC Barcelona is closely monitoring the situation with PSG boss Luis Enrique. Since taking charge at PSG last summer, the former Barcelona coach has done an excellent job, leading the club to the Ligue 1 championship and the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.

When Xavi had yet to reverse his decision to depart, Enrique was rumoured to be one of the Blaugrana's top targets. While a move for the former Spain manager during the summer was never a possibility, Barcelona is now hoping that he will be available in 2025, allowing them to bring him back to his former club.

Enrique's deal with PSG ends during the summer of 2025, and the Catalan giants hope he does not renew with the Parisian powerhouse.

Does Paris Saint-Germain want to extend Luis Enrique’s contract?

PSG, on their part, are very pleased with how things are progressing with Luis Enrique and aim to offer him a new deal that will keep him at the club into 2025.

The Spanish strategist, for his part, is at ease and settled in the French capital team. Enrique, as a result, was hesitant to terminate his contract during the summer if Barcelona came knocking. However, with the deal ending in 2025, the Blaugrana are hoping he does not renew.

Deco, Barça's sporting director, believes Enrique is the strongest candidate to take charge as manager once Xavi's tenure ends. As a result, they have paved the way to a reunion and are going to track Enrique in the following months. This reunion might be great for both the manager as well as the club as the past success has shown everyone what they are capable of.
