FC Barcelona has been one of the most successful clubs in the European circuit. With the rich history of the club, they produced some of the greatest players in the history of the game. However, over the past few years, the club has struggled with form and financial problems as well. The Blaugranes last season found their way back on track in La Liga and in the current season they have qualified for the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League after the 2019-20 season, where they were trashed by Bayern Munich.

In the current season, the club has gone through ups and downs, with injuries creating problems for the Spanish Giants. They are currently placed 2nd in the La Liga table eight points behind their arch-rivals Real Madrid. Under Xavi Hernandez, the team has come out with some of the best young players like Gavi, Pedri, Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi. The mentioned players's best so far has come under the managerialship of the former Barca midfielder.

Robert Lewandowski who was signed for scoring goals has been the club's leading striker for two seasons. But his form and age have been a question for the club. As per Mundo Deportivo, they are planning to replace him with someone like Erling Haaland as the management is hoping to get Haaland and convince manager Xavi to stay at the club.

Will Xavi reverse his decision to leave?

Joan Laporta has been impressed by the coach's ability to bring out the best in younger players coming through the system in addition to strengthening the squad in the upcoming seasons. The club hierarchy wants to make a statement signing in the future to persuade Xavi to reconsider his decision to step down at the end of the current season.

However Barca is still struggling financially, therefore it would be tough for them to sanction a trade for the Norwegian striker, who is said to have a release clause in his current contract worth roughly 170 million euros. Currently, the club's main motive is to keep the 44-year-old on the club for more seasons.
