FC Barcelona have been one of the finest sides in the European footballing circuit. But the Catalonian club have struggled with form over the years. They currently are second placed in the La Liga table and 11 points behind their arch-rivals Real Madrid who are winning the Spanish domestic season. The Blaugranes missed the opportunity to qualify for the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League after getting knocked out by Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals of the competition.

However, the side is focusing on finishing the season on a higher note and finishing second in the league. Xavi who announced his departure from the club after the end of the season, has decided to stay further more as the former World Cup winner believes the new project for the club is unfinished and the management has convinced him to stay as the head coach. The 44-year-old manager won La Liga in his second season with the club itself and understands the value of the club as he was a part for many years.

Despite their financial challenges, the side have signed lots of players in the previous two seasons who have turned out to be vital for the side. Ahead of the new season to start, there will be some players from the squad that will leave the club in the upcoming 2024/25 summer transfer window. There have been big names in the list, as the management decided to bring in some financial help by letting the players go in the current window.

De Jong and Lewandowski to leave Barca?

As per the latest report by the Athletic, Barca have marked only three players that will not be touched in the transfer market, with all of them being La Masia graduates, Gavi, Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi. These three players are not for sale as per the recent rumours. However, the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Frenkie de Jong and Ronald Araujo are not in the 'untouchables' list, along with the likes of Ansu Fati, Raphinha and Marcos Alonso.

As per Xavi's latest comments, de Jong is considered to be a vital player for the side as the Dutch player has been pivotal for the club since his arrival. The midfielder is the highest-paid player in the side and the club will look to negotiate in the new deal and the agreement of the player will be vital for his next season stay at the club.
