Bayern Munich played Real Madrid at the Allianz Arena for the 1st leg semi-final of the UEFA Champions League. Madrid, having beaten Manchester City in the penalties, did not start the game well as the home side pressed a lot of the balls and had the chances of opening scoring but they failed. They had control of the middle of the park with the visitors soaking the pressure.

On the other hand, Los Blancos did all the hard work to keep away Bayern in the first 23 minutes of the game, they broke the deadlock in the 24 minute of the game after Toni Kroos’s through ball from the midfield found Vinicius Junior who opened the scoring for the side. After scoring Carlo Ancelotti’s side kept the pressure on the home side but the scoreline was 1-0 in the first 45 minutes.

Konard Laimer was brilliant on the night for Bayern as he was all over the pitch for the home side intercepted lots of balls and countered for the side. In the second half of the game Leon Goretzka was taken off for Raphael Guerreiro. Laimer’s ball in the wing to Leroy Sane who made a free run inside the box before striking a powerful strike inside the box.

Excellent comeback from Madrid

The Bavarians kept on piling the pressure as Jamal Musiala was brought down inside the box a couple of minutes after scoring the first with Harry Kane scoring from the spot kick. Madrid after conceding piled on the pressure with the last 10 minutes in the game and it paid off for the side as they earned the penalty after Kim Min-Jae brought down Rodrygo in the penalty and Vinicius yet again scored and this time from the spot.

After an enthralling game of 90 minutes the sides could not be separated in the first leg of the semi-final with all to play in the second leg. Madrid will be the favourites to qualify for the final but Thomas Tuchel's side might also come out and play some brilliant brand of football at Santiago Bernaneu.
