Afghanistan have outplayed England in the must-win game of the Champions Trophy 2025. It was an outstanding effort from Afghanistan's star all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai to bring his team back into the game with an amazing five-wicket haul in the second innings. England are officially out of the tournament and wouldn't be happy with the loss. It has been a forgettable tournament for them as they lost two winning games against Australia and Afghanistan.

However, the credit for this win goes to Ibrahim Zadran for scoring a magnificent century in the first innings. He is now the highest run-scorer of the tournament with 177 runs off 146 balls, including 12 boundaries and six sixes. It was unbelievable batting from the opener who stayed till the end and made sure Afghanistan crossed the 300-run mark.

England's batting and bowling have been quite disappointing today as they failed to chase 326 runs against Afghanistan. They have a lot to reflect on from this tournament and will hope to not repeat the same mistakes again. Despite Joe Root's 120 runs in 111 balls, England lost the game by just eight runs. Now, they are out of the tournament. Afghanistan will surely try to win the game against Australia to qualify for the semi-finals.

I wanted to grab one good catch for the team: Ibrahim Zadran

Ibrahim Zadran was given the Player of the Match award for his brilliant performance in the game. He spoke about his catch and how it felt to beat England in such a high-octane game. Afghanistan's next target would be Australia which will open its way to the semi-finals.

"I was expecting that, I wanted to grab one good catch for the team. Whenever I grabbed it (the winning catch), that feeling was great. It means a lot to me, as much as you work hard, I was having trust on myself and I wanted to keep on batting," said Ibrahim Zadran.
