Xhaka has been following his former team closely and wants them to succeed domestically now that European distractions are gone.
Arsenal's Champions League dream run ended in disappointment after a 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals. The Gunners, who held Bayern to a 2-2 draw in the first leg at the Emirates, fell short at the Allianz Arena. A powerful header from Joshua Kimmich in the 63rd minute proved to be the difference.
Despite a promising first half, where they threatened Bayern's defence, Arsenal lacked a cutting edge in attack. The loss compounded a recent dip in form, following a defeat to Aston Villa in the Premier League. The result meant Arsenal wouldn't just miss out on the Champions League trophy but also the newly expanded Club World Cup in 2025.
However, there was a silver lining. With their European campaign over, Arsenal could shift their focus entirely to the Premier League title race. They remained in contention, sitting second in the table just two points behind Manchester City with a few games remaining.
"It doesn't mean you lost everything"
Granit Xhaka, a key figure for Arsenal for several seasons before his transfer to Bayer Leverkusen, has offered some words of support for his former team through the media. Xhaka acknowledged the Gunners' disappointment. He emphasized that while the Champions League journey was over, there was still much to play for in the Premier League title race. He also confirmed that he has been following his former team closely and wants them to succeed domestically now that European distractions are gone.
"This is part of the game, I think it was 10 or 11 games unbeaten. When you lose one game, it doesn't mean you lost everything already. There are six games left in the Premier League and there is still a big chance to get the Premier League title. I wish them all the best for sure because I am still in contact with the staff and players and also still watching the games. I hope so because the team, the staff, and the football club as well deserve to win trophies. They are very close this year as well like it was last year but football is about small details. I hope they can do it," he said.
