Manchester United start their 4th game of the English Premier League season with an away game. The former EPL title winners take on Southampton in the first game of the weekend. Erik Ten Hag and his team need to win the game in a bid to half their run of two losses from two games.
Christian Eriksen was drafted into the playing XI for his first start of the season. Erik Ten Hag had dropped Casemiro from the starting XI after his dismal performance against Liverpool. The Brazilian star was called out for his bad performances which saw the Liverpool side score twice.
Joshua Zirkzee and Marcus Rashford kept their places in the team while Alejandro Garanacho started from the bench. Summer signing Manuel Ugarte is also in the squad but is set to start the game from the bench.
Manchester United aim to end losing run
There is massive pressure not only on the Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag but also some of the players. Marcus Rashford hasn’t been in the greatest of goal scoring form and his lack of goals has started to affect the team.
Joshua Zirkzee came into the team after an amazing season in Italy with Bolonga. The Dutch star though began with a winning a goal against Fulham in the opening weekend. In the game against Liverpool, the forward struggled and wasted a host of chances for his side. One of the best chances when he headed the ball straight into Alisson’s hands.
The defense is set to see Mazaroui along with Lisandro Martinez, Diogo Dalot, and Matthijs De Ligt. It is a huge game for De Ligt in particular who was removed at half time by Ronald Koeman during the Holland versus Germany game last week.
The midfield will be manned by Christian Eriksen along with Kobbie Mainoo and skipper Bruno Fernandez. The right wing will be manned by Amad Diallo with Marcus Rashford on the left-wing as Zirkzee will be the sole striker.
United have the likes of Casemiro, Harry Macguire, and Jonny Evans start from the bench. Anthony and Alejandro Garnacho will hope to get their chances if and when called upon as United hope to pick all 3 points on Saturday.
