Enzo Maresca and Mykhalio Mudryk
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has addressed the recent news regarding Mykhailo Mudryk, who has tested positive for a banned substance.
Maresca expressed the team's disappointment over the situation, emphasizing that both players and staff are concerned for Mudryk. The forward faces the possibility of a four-year ban; however, Maresca has committed to providing support to the Ukrainian player as he navigates this challenging period.
Maresca breaks silence over Mudryk's ban
Maresca told reporters that the entire team is united in their support for Mykhailo, who is understandably upset and sad. He emphasized that he spoke with Mudryk just a few days ago, but currently, Mudryk is unable to train. The club is fully committed to supporting the player in every aspect he requires. He assured that footballers have faced similar situations in the past and are well-prepared to handle them, which is why they have unwavering trust in Mykhailo and are steadfast in their support.
"We are all upset, sad and we are there to support Mykhailo. I spoke with him days ago. At the moment he can't train. We are waiting but as I say, the club are there ready to support the player with all the aspects he needs. It's not the first time that something like this has happened. It has already happened in the past. I think they know exactly what they have to do and this is the reason that we trust and support Mykhailo." Maresca said.
"First of all, these kind of things not only happen to young players but players with experience. It is my duty since we started that I try and have a relationship with players quite close because I like it that way. With Mudryk it is exactly the same and I am here to help him in anything he needs. At this moment it is normal that he is going to need help from the club, from me and from his teammates and we are all there trying to support him." Maresca added.
"I think he will come back. The only thing is we don't know when, that's the only doubt we have at the moment. For sure he is going to come back." Maresca concluded.
Chelsea is poised to receive the results of a 'B' sample as they determine the fate of Mudryk. Currently, the forward's career at Chelsea hangs in the balance, yet Maresca firmly believes that Mudryk will make a strong comeback regardless of the outcome.
