Following a 1-1 draw in regular time, the Three Lions triumphed 5-3 in the shootout, sparking jubilant celebrations with their wives and girlfriends in the stands.

Bukayo Saka was the hero of the night, scoring the equalizer with a stunning goal just ten minutes before the end of regular time. Reflecting on the victory, Bukayo Saka expressed his relief and joy, saying, "It’s something I embrace. It was special, very special, how we fought back. The last time we went to penalties we all know what happened."

“You can fail once but you have a choice whether you put yourself in that position again or not. I’m a guy who is going to put myself in that position. I believed in myself. To come back from something like that was difficult but I used it to make me stronger. We know there are two more games until we can change our lives and make some history that’s never been made before. We’re focused on that.”

As beers flew in the air across pubs and bars in England, the players and their loved ones savoured the moment, knowing they had made history with only their third-ever penalty shootout win. England's next challenge will be against the Netherlands in the semi-final at Signal Iduna Park, where they will aim to continue their journey towards Euro 2024 glory.
