When Real Madrid lost 2-0 to Liverpool in the Champions League on Wednesday, Eduardo Camavinga, a midfielder for the squad, was hurt and substituted in the second half. While chasing the ball, the France international drew up abruptly and went down, clutching the back of his left leg after seemingly injuring his hamstring.
After receiving a quick treatment from Madrid's medical team, Dani Ceballos was substituted off the bench in the 57th minute at Anfield. Although he managed to leave the field, Camavinga hobbled to the locker room. According to the aforementioned statement, Real Madrid has now verified the type of damage sustained by the French international after testing.
For this brief stint, Camavinga will not be available, but Rodrygo, who missed Madrid's match against Getafe over the weekend due to a muscle ailment, is returning. More players are also set for medical examinations tomorrow. Brahim Diaz, Jude Bellingham, and Kylian Mbappe will all be examined.
Real Madrid facing injury problems.
Last season, Eduardo Camavinga, 22, missed much of the season due to knee issues. Madrid faced elimination in the first round of the redesigned Champions League as a result of the defeat. The last playoff slot for the round of 16, when the top eight teams advance directly, is occupied by the reigning champion, who is currently ranked 24th.
Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao have been sidelined for the season, and Vinicius Junior, Aurelia Tchouameni, Rodrygo Goes, and David Alaba were also unable to play against Liverpool due to injury. A three-week absence would cause Camavinga to miss La Liga matches against Rayo Vallecano, Getafe, Athletic Club, and Girona, as well as a Champions League match that must be won against Atalanta. Madrid struggled in 24th place in the table, the final qualifying spot, after losing to Liverpool, their third in five Champions League games.
