Manchester City is planning to present Erling Haaland with a new lucrative contract following the successful extension of Pep Guardiola's tenure at the club.
Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Guardiola will continue as manager, signing a one-year contract with an option for an additional year. In light of this positive development, the club is now focused on securing Haaland's future as well, despite the ongoing concerns regarding potential relegation stemming from 115 alleged financial breaches.
Erling Haaland to earn £100 million
Erling Haaland is under contract until 2027 and is currently earning £375,000 per week before bonuses. This impressive weekly salary amounts to £20 million ($25 million) per season, and a potential four-year extension could see him earning over £100 million, excluding bonuses.
Manchester City is also expected to initiate discussions with Ballon d'Or winner Rodri regarding a new contract. Additionally, the club will need to make a strategic decision about Kevin De Bruyne, as his current deal concludes this summer. If De Bruyne chooses to remain with the team, it may require him to accept a reduced salary. His situation could be influenced by the fact that he will be eligible to negotiate with foreign clubs starting in January.
The 24-year-old striker has garnered attention from prominent Spanish clubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid, but Manchester City is determined to retain their star asset. The challenge now lies in whether City can persuade Haaland to commit to a new agreement. Since his debut in 2022, Haaland-Guardiola has showcased outstanding chemistry. Haaland has amassed 105 goals in 114 appearances. His debut season helped Manchester City achieve an extraordinary Treble, and they successfully defended their Premier League title the following year.
Haaland's outstanding performance has earned him the Golden Boot in both of his seasons in the Premier League, and he is poised for another strong campaign, having scored 12 goals this season so far.
