At just 23 years old, Almada is already making his mark as an international player for Argentina, having earned 6 caps and scored 2 goals. Notably, he was part of the Argentina squad that claimed the World Cup title in Qatar in 2022, showing his talent on a global stage.

Lyon took a dig at Cristiano Ronaldo with fake Messi text

Lyon made a hilarious announcement regarding their new signing with a social media video featuring fellow Argentinian Nicolás Tagliafico. The video also included a fake cameo from Lionel Messi, who took a dig at his eternal rival Cristiano Ronaldo.

The text read: “Don’t listen to Cristiano, Ligue 1 is incredible.” (translated version)

This follows the comments made by the Al-Nassr star, who reaffirmed his belief that the Saudi Pro League offers a higher level of competition and challenge than Ligue 1. During the 2024 Globe Soccer Awards last month, Ronaldo highlighted the climate in Saudi Arabia as an important factor influencing his perspective.

"The French league? Of course [it is worse]. I don't say that because I play there [in Saudi Arabia]. They [people] should go there and play there, to see. To run in 38, 39, 40 degrees and sprint a few times, just to see how they're going to be. Don't believe in my words - go there and see." Cristiano said.

"Only in France is PSG, the rest is finished. It's my opinion. In France, it is only PSG, sorry. The other ones compete, okay. But PSG is the strongest - nobody competes with them." he added.

Club Lyon currently sits in the sixth spot in the Ligue One standings with 28 points in 17 matches. Paris Saint Germain leads the standings with 43 points followed by Marseille.
