DAZN has been selected by FIFA as a broadcast partner and will provide free worldwide distribution of all 63 FIFA Club World Cup matches. FIFA announced a distribution agreement with DAZN on Wednesday, securing a broadcast sponsor for the Club World Cup after months of waiting. In a historic deal, fans worldwide will be able to watch all 63 games on the streaming service for free.
According to reports, the agreement is for $1 billion for the competition, which will begin on June 15 in Miami. As part of its agreement with FIFA, DAZN, which is not as popular in the United States as it is in Europe and other regions, can choose to sublicense to regional free-to-air broadcasters.
There has not always been the same level of excitement or expectation for FIFA's lofty ambitions for the Club World Cup. Despite having top-tier headliners like Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Inter Miami, the regulatory body had trouble finding a broadcast partner. Players have also expressed their displeasure with the tournament, citing worries about exhaustion and a large match load.
Nevertheless, the competition will serve as another evaluation for the 2026 World Cup because it will take place in multiple World Cup venues and feature 32 teams, including A-list teams and CONCACAF teams like Inter Miami, Seattle Sounders, and Monterrey.
