England star David Beckham ignored his former Manchester United teammates when asked which player he had ever played with was the greatest. During his illustrious 21-year career, Beckham played for some of the greatest teams in the world with some of the greatest players of all time.
Following his time at United, Beckham joined Real Madrid, one of the biggest teams in La Liga, and went on to play for AC Milan, LA Galaxy, and Paris Saint-Germain. After playing with players like Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, and Zinedine Zidane, Beckham was asked to think of the best player he had ever joined.
A close friend and former United teammate urged Beckham to figure out one guy as the finest he has ever played with during an appearance on Gary Neville's show The Overlap. In response, he said, "Aside from you, Zidane, is the best player I've ever played with." Beckham and Zidane played together for three years at Real Madrid. They won the Supercopa de Espana and played 102 games together.
David Beckham names Zidane as the best player he has ever played
Zidane ended his 17-year career as a professional football player just a year before David Beckham left to join the LA Galaxy. In 2020, Beckham shared a post on Instagram regarding the incident, expressing his affection for his former teammate. "Very very lucky to have played against Zizou, but one of the biggest moments in my career is lining up with him as a teammate.. This moment in his last game 14 years ago today wasn't just emotional for him and us but the whole world.. Merci my friend," he posted on Instagram.
Even though Beckham had the most successful years at Old Trafford, he later ignored all of his former teammates by claiming Zinedine Zidane was the best player he had ever played with. Under renowned manager Sir Alex Ferguson, the English international won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, and the Champions League with United.
