Enzo Fernandez has officially ended his relationship with his childhood sweetheart and the mother of his two children. The Chelsea star’s long-term partner, Valentina Cervantes, took to Instagram to announce their breakup, confirming the split. The couple has two children, who were born in 2020 and 2023.
In her announcement, influencer Cervantes shared that she and the 23-year-old have parted ways amicably. Argentine journalist Julieta Argenta reported that Fernandez expressed a desire for independence and to embrace living alone.
Cervantes's reveal on Instagram
Cervantes, who has a strong following on Instagram, mentioned that they have mutually decided to create some distance in their relationship moving forward. They committed to always being a supportive family for one another, recognizing that the two children in the centre need their love and guidance.
She expressed her confidence in Enzo, acknowledging the wonderful father he is and the big heart he possesses. This understanding is what truly matters to her. "With Enzo today we say distance from each other, we will always be family and support each other through everything." She mentioned it on Instagram.
"Because there are two kids in the middle that need a lot of our love for them. I know the person and excellent father Enzo is, and the heart he has. And that's enough for me. They don't want to create wars where there aren't any." She added. The couple initially met in their home country of Argentina and have since welcomed two children, born in March 2020 and October 2023.
Her support has been unwavering as she followed his career from River Plate to Benfica, and then to Chelsea, where he made a record-breaking £107 million transfer in January 2023. Recently, the dedicated midfielder shared a heartfelt post on Instagram to celebrate the birthday of their youngest son, Benjamin.
All not good for Fernandez
In recent developments, Enzo Maresca has made the strategic decision to bench Fernandez, favouring Renato Veiga in midfield for Chelsea's last two Premier League matches. Earlier in the season, Fernandez took on the captaincy role and demonstrated strong leadership, particularly during Wednesday's League Cup clash against Newcastle, despite the team's challenging 2-0 loss. Following Argentina's Copa America victory, he faced criticism for sharing a video of himself and his teammates singing a controversial song that many found offensive.
