Real Madrid are currently the league leaders of the La Liga. The Los Blancos have performed superbly in the current season, in the domestic circuit and the UEFA Champions League (UCL) as well. This season they have shown some great intent and scored some last-minute winners in most of the games they have played. Madrid have an 8-point lead against their arch-rivals FC Barcelona and they are facing Athletic Club in their upcoming fixture after the international break.

Madrid will be up against Manchester City in a week as they were tied in the quarter-final draw with the defending UCL champions. With Eder Militao back in the side and the head coach Carlo Ancelotti giving good news to the fans as he will be available in the game against Athletic Club, with his return to the side, the defensive organisation will be a lot more compact and robust.

The 14-time UCL champions have already started preparing for the transfer market. As per the rumours, the star France forward Kylian Mbappe has once again been linked with the club after his certain change of decision to stay with Paris Saint-Germain in the 2022 season for two more years. Though this time the linking of the forward has been more concrete.

Ancelotti provides update on Mbappe

Ahead of the game against Bilbao, the head coach was asked about the fans' feelings after Aurélien Tchouaméni spoke about Mbappe's signing for the Spanish Giants. The 64-year-old manager replied saying the crowd has always been excited for the Madrid shirt as it makes the fans happy regardless of whosoever is the player.

The Italian manager also threw light on the star Croatian midfielder Luka Modric leaving the club next season. He seemed to be surprised by the question and gave a befitting reply that the midfielder's focus is on the ongoing season and he will look into the matter after the end of the season. Modric's midfield partner Toni Kroos has already extended the contract with the most successful club in Europe and looking to be part of the side for one more season.
