In their difficult quest for their next permanent manager, Bayern Munich spoke with Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner. Ralf Rangnick earlier declined a move to the Allianz Arena in order to stay guiding the Austrian national team. Xabi Alonso from Bayer Leverkusen is reportedly not going to finalise the summer transfer to Munich. According to Sky, the Bayern leadership considered Glasner's bid before ultimately choosing Hansi Flick.

Bayern are keen to recruit a new manager following Thomas Tuchel's confirmed departure at the end of their campaign in February. Bayern's sporting director Christoph Freund spoke with Glasner, the former Eintracht Frankfurt manager. However, Palace reportedly indicated firmly that Glasner was not going to be granted clearance.

Since Glasner took charge for Roy Hodgson at Crystal Palace, the club has seen an incredible metamorphosis. After the 49-year-old Austrian came over as manager, the Eagles have lost less matches than Manchester City and Arsenal.

On Saturday, the Eagles secured their fifth game in six, including a 4-0 thrashing of Manchester United, by leading 3-1 at Wolves. Glasner is satisfied and prosperous in south London, implying that Flick is about to go back to Bayern. The 59-year-old struggled to manage Germany and was ousted in September of the previous year after a bad run of results; yet, he had excellent results at Bayern in his last term, achieving the triple in 2019-20.

Bayern Munich will face yet another managerial rejection

In addition to Glasner, two other well-known personalities decided to turn down Bayern negotiations: Bayer Leverkusen's Xabi Alonso and Austrian national team manager and former Manchester United player Ralf Rangnick.

The German Giants had been urgently looking for a replacement for Thomas Tuchel, who are not going to win a title in a single season for the very first time since 2011-12. Harry Kane, the marquee signing will also go trophy-less this season and there are a lot of players that the club would be looking to get rid of.
