Andriy Lunin skipped Real Madrid's practice due to a sickness, which prevented him from participating in the open media practice prior to the final of the UEFA Champions League versus Borussia Dortmund on June 1. This development comes amid continuous arguments over who would start as custodian in the game, with Belgian Thibaut Courtois, who has recovered from two knee problems, emerging as the favourite. Due to Lunin's unavailability, Ancelotti called up Fran González, a Juvenil A custodian. The session also included Mario Martín, a recent squad call-up, and Puerto Rican Jeremy de León.

Real Madrid won the UEFA Champions League final for the 15th time at Wembley Stadium on June 1, thanks to second-half strikes from Dani Carvajal as well as Vinicius Jr. Thibaut Courtois made some decisive saves as the Spanish giants defeated a courageous Borussia Dortmund 2-0.

The Real Madrid goalkeeper has since then spoken about being left out of the training session and discussed what had happened. He said, “Missing training during UCL final week? They did a virus test, it showed that I had virus-b, I have no idea what that is, but they told me that it is slightly contagious & I couldn’t train with the team.”

Lunin set to change clubs ahead of next season?

Andriy Lunin, the Ukrainian custodian, may shift clubs during the upcoming transfer window, according to Spanish source Defensa Central on June 3. Newcastle United, the English club, proposed 30 million euros ($32.6 million) to purchase the 25-year-old custodian, however Real Madrid president Florentino Perez declined.

Nacional has reportedly stated that Erik Ten Hag and Manchester United had reached an agreement to sign the Ukraine international, who was dubbed a 'top target' by the English Premier League heavyweights in the summer. President Florentino Perez is keen to extend Lunin's stay following some strong performances in Thibaut Courtois' absence, but has so far been unsuccessful in tying him down to new terms.
