Italian boxer Angela Carini sobbed after pulling out of her match against Algerian Imane Khelif, which had caused a great deal of controversy, at the 46-second mark. Although Khelif was dismissed from the women's world championships this past year for failing gender eligibility and testosterone testing, she represents one of two boxers allowed to compete at the Paris Olympics 2024.

This has led to a lot of social media trolling for Imane Khelif and people from around the world are supporting Angela Carini. In the midst of all this, AC Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer has put out a tweet supporting his countryman. He believes that the hatred that the player is receiving is unjustified and totally not deserved.

He said, “Full support for our champion Imane Khelif, who is suffering a wave of unjustified hatred. His presence at the Olympic Games is simply the result of his talent and hard work. We believe in you to carry the colors of Algeria high ❤️”

“I couldn’t finish the fight after the punch to the nose” : Angela Carini

The Italian boxer Carini said after the intense circumstances at the North Paris Arena that she had pulled out because she had been hit harder unlike she had ever been hit. Her chinstrap was knocked off by a first hit, and her shorts were bloodied by a second strike that smacked into her chin.

She said, “I am heartbroken,” said Carini. “I went to the ring to honour my father. I was told a lot of times that I was a warrior but I preferred to stop for my health. I have never felt a punch like this.”

She added, “I got into the ring to fight. I didn’t give up, but one punch hurt too much and so I said enough. I’m going out with my head held high. After the second punch, after years of experience, I felt a strong pain in the nose. I said enough, because I didn’t want. I couldn’t finish the fight after the punch to the nose. So it was better to put an end to it.”
