Fluminense goalkeeper Fabio equalled Peter Shilton's record for the most number of career appearances (1390) in a Brazilian League game. The legendary Cristiano Ronaldo is third in the list with 1283 matches in his career. Rogerio Ceni and Frantisek Planicka are also in the list with 1265 and 1187 appearances in their careers, respectively.

England's Shilton held the record for a long time and disputed over the record, as he claimed to have played 1387 matches in his career. However, as per the records, the British has 1390 career matches to his name, which has now been equalled by the Brazilian. Following the record, Fabio spoke and thanked everyone responsible for his achievement.

"I have to thank everyone who is part of my life, my father, my mother, my sisters, my friends, my wife… I try to be a good human being. The important thing is to help my teammates. I am grateful, but without God nothing would be possible," said Fabio as he played the 1390th match of his career.

Cristiano Ronaldo features in unique record

The list also has the legendary Footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo, who has played 1283 matches in his career. The former Brazilian player, Rogerio Ceni, is fourth in the list, who played 1265 matches for his clubs and country combined. Czech Republic's Frantisek Planicka is fifth in the list, who played 1187 matches for his clubs and country combined.
