Real Madrid has announced that Éder Militão has sustained a complete tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during the Laliga fixture against Osasuna. Additionally, it is also reported that the Brazilian has incurred damage to both menisci in his right leg.
The Brazilian defender is scheduled to go under the knife in the upcoming days. Militão was substituted in the 30th minute of Real Madrid's La Liga fixture against Osasuna on Saturday and was stretchered off the field. His last ACL injury on his left knee occurred against Athletic Bilbao last year.
In addition, Madrid's striker also sustained a minor injury that is going to keep him out of action for atleast a month.
Here is the list of three players, Madrid can sign to reduce their defensive woes.
3) Aymeric Laporte
According to journalist Matteo Moret, Real Madrid is keen to add the talented defender to their roster during the upcoming winter transfer market in January. However, they anticipate that securing his signature may prove challenging.
Laporte has been a key figure in defensive setups, having solidified Manchester City's backline from 2018 to 2020, where he made 121 appearances and netted 8 goals. Since his move to Al-Nasr, he has continued to demonstrate his capabilities, contributing 6 goals in 36 matches.
2) Sergio Ramos
At 38, Spanish veteran Sergio Ramos has become a focal point in discussions following Militao's departure. Club legends like Guti are vocally advocating for his re-signing in this challenging time. The defensive maestro, capable of excelling as both a centre-back and right-back, is available for free after an impressive season with Sevilla. He remains fit and has proven his worth on the field, making him a strong candidate to bolster the team for the next six months. No doubt re-acquiring him could significantly benefit the squad.
1) Jonathan Tah
There have been rumours linking Madrid with Bayer Leverkusen and Germany centre-back Jonathan Tah. Tah has been a major stay at Bundesliga club Bayern Leverkusen where he has made 268 appearances, scoring 13 goals. He was also one of the members of the iconic Leverkusen squad that lifted the Bundesliga title in 2021. He is currently contracted with the German Club till 2025.
