Popular live-streaming platform Twitch has made a big announcement that can change a lot of things for aspiring streamers this year. Reaching monetization on the platform was one of the few challenging aspects that is being eliminated this year. Twitch will soon allow everyone to take advantage of its monetization tools.

“As we head into 2025, our goal continues to be to make Twitch the absolute best place for our streamers, and also, an exciting place for new creators and viewers to build and find their communities. We’ll continue to focus on expanding our user base and introducing more people to live streaming,” CEO of Twitch, Dan Clancy said in the official post.

Gamers getting more incentive to stream on Twitch

Prior to the announcement, the monetization aspect of a Twitch account was locked behind its affiliate program which had its own set of requirements to fulfill. Moving forward, even new users will be able to earn through subscriptions and bits starting day one. Cutting down a step will further encourage more people to stream, be it video games or something else.

“In 2025, we’re excited to open up monetization tools—subscriptions and bits—to most streamers, from day one. This will allow creators, regardless of their status, to grow their communities and start building earnings through direct patronage. We’re also introducing an option, which will allow all streamers to use their earnings on purchases within Twitch,” the post further added.

The wording ‘most streamer’ is likely for people who are banned and make a new account or some other technicality. However, people starting fresh should now have any issues with the monetization of their Twitch channel from day one.

Why is this a good news for gamers?

Allowing access to monetization not only gives players hope of getting lucky and start earning from the get-go. Furthermore, those who play video games casually may also start streaming with a big requirement removed. While there aren’t many details about when this change will come into effect, it will definitely bring more gamers to the platform.
