Sony isn’t worried about PC stealing PS5 users any time soon. The company stated this in the FY2024 Q2 earning Q&A responding to their recent decision to slowly bring PlayStation exclusive games on PC. This comes as a response to stockholders who may be worried that the company’s decision may end up upsetting the users.
“In terms of losing users to PCs, we have neither confirmed that any such trend is underway nor do we see it as a major risk, so far,” said in an official statement. This seems to be true at the moment as PS5 is reportedly selling over a million units each month. A most recent sales report reval the console sold over 4 million units globally in November 2024.

The PC port for PlayStation-exclusive games started with Horizon Zero Dawn back in 2020 and over the years, games like The Last of Us, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Uncharted, God of War, and a lot of other tiles have made their way into the PC.
Naturally, the PS5 community wasn’t very pleased at first, however, the games aren’t released simultaneously have more than a year-long gap between the PS5 release and the PC release. 2025 is also no exception as many popular PS5 titles are expected to land on PC this year too.

PlayStation to increase the intensity of PC releases
The doubts regarding the PS5 sales and users shifting to PC are justifiable. Back in early 2024, Sony President, Hiroki Totoki, stated that the company would be posting games to PC much more ‘aggressively’. While there was no time frame for how fast, gamers can expect the PC ports to come possibly within a year after the console release.
Most recently gamers saw Helldiver 2 released on PS5 and PC simultaneously. The company has a lot more live-service games in the bag so a similar release is expected in the future. A similar shift in Xbox was also noticed as the company is now aiming to provide an extensive multi-platform gaming experience with less focus on exclusivity.
Xbox series X/S is already losing out to the PS5 and Microsft likely believes it’s high time to to focus on a different strategy. Xbox games are becoming multi-platform and the offering to play games across various devices is also something completely new.
