While there are multiple monster-catching games on PC, Palworld was a huge step in bringing the Pokémon type game and was unique. The game received well-deserved praise and is still being improved by the developers.

However, there now seems to be a surge of similar games on both PC and mobile device developers by multiple Chinese gaming companies. While in today’s market, most companies would start slamming each other for copying each other, Takuro Mizobe, CEO of Pocketpair and the creator of Palworld seems excited and happy about the trend.

“Tencent is already making a Palworld clone game! In China, various companies are simultaneously developing mobile clones of Palworld, and the budget scale is about 10 billion yen, 10 times that of Palworld. It looks like a ton of Genshin-quality monster (or girl) breeding games will be released next year. Amazing times,” Mizobe said in his tweet.

People getting the wrong impression

A few people seeming got confused with the wording, thinking Mizobe was accusing others of stealing the idea. However, he later on clarified that he was surprised to see his idea blow up so much and did not accuse anyone.

Looking at the similar upcoming games, it can’t be denied that these games are heavily inspired by Palworld in terms of success. Mizobe’s understanding of these games is also understandable, as Palworld itself was inspired by Pokémon, which he had previously admitted.

As per Mizobe, he wanted everyone to experience these types of games and not limit them to a single platform. The game was highly praised on release and became the second-most-played game on Steam.

With big companies like Tencent jumping ship, players will soon be able to choose from a multitude of similar games with likely better graphics, boasting competition. Palworld still boasts an impressive player count of over 65,000 on Steam alone. Paired with other platforms, the daily number likely crosses 100,000.
