At the moment, PlayStation users can still make use of their mobile devices for playing games through the Remote Play option. However, judging by the illustrations, this seems to be something different and the early look fells like it's made for assisting players rather than replacing the regular screen.

Sony looking to make gaming easier?

This feature of using the second screen for assistance can be really powerful as many games have very complex systems, especially MMOs and RPGs, which can get overwhelming. Having a second player to quickly look up details or useful information can be very powerful.

Nintendo DS also featured a multiscreen where one could be used for different purposes like inventory management, map navigation, hints and more. The concept here seems to be similar but applied differently and possibly act as a no cost feature upgrade to the PS5 users.

However, any official announcement regarding the same is yet to come from Sony. After all, these are simply patents, and it is hard to tell when these features will be available or if they will be available at all. For now, gamers can only hope for the best.
