A few days ahead of Path of Exile 2, Game Director Jonathan Rogers revealed that the server capacity has been increased to accommodate 1 million players in the hopes of a smooth launch with minimal queues. Sadly, hours before the launch, players have found out that the early access key redemption has crossed that number as per an official announcement.
What does this mean? For starters, Grinding Gear Games (GGG) is now presuming that the players logging into the game will likely reach much higher than the anticipated numbers as sales for supporter packs still continue. While this comes as incredible news, it also creates the launch issue everyone was trying to avoid.

“We’ve just reached 1 million Early Access redemptions. The support you have all shown for Path of Exile 2 Early Access is far beyond anything we could have ever predicted. However, we want to be upfront with you all and let you know there may very well be queues over the weekend,” GGG wrote.

In order to resolve that, GGG is once again planning to increase the server capacity, however, it might take some time and players will likely have to wait in the login queue for some time as the launch is on the weekend which will likely bring the maximum number of players ahead of full release.
Path of Exile 2 reaches No. 1 on Steam top sellers
The latest information from Jonathan checks out with the current leaderboard of the Steam Top Sellers, as the game has reached number one globally. Furthermore, Path of Exile 2 is also available across Xbox and PS5 consoles and with the base supporter packs and legacy players spending over $500 in POE 1 getting access, the maths checks out.

While the release date for Path of Exile 2 is set for December 6 (PST), just half a day away from launch, players will need to wait a bit longer in the line. At the moment, players are already queuing up even before the servers go live.
