Season 10 for Overwatch 2 is set to release on April 16 and is called Venture Forth after the new hero "Venture" who was previously available for a limited duration for testing and balancing purposes before the official release.

As per the developers, Venture will be a damaged character. They are also the first non-binary character addition to Overwatch, similar to Clove in Valorant, and are portrayed as a Mexican-Canadian Archaeologist. Most of the players already had experience with Venture since the beta testing.

They use a handheld excavator and mostly play close range as a DPS. As for a quick overview of the abilities, the weapon fires rounds that explode after a short distance. Players can use Drill Dash to close or make distance between opponents, and can also go underground briefly.

As for the ultimate, Venture sends a shockwave dealing massive damage in a wide straight area and can stun opponents. The trial weekend with Venture was a success, and hopefully, the launch will be too.

New game mode

Alongside the new Hero, players are also getting a new game mode called “Mirrorwatch” which has a very interesting concept. The good heroes as per the lore are turned into villains, while the villains are turned into heroes.

The characters have had their appearance and abilities changed. As seen in the trailer, Mercy, who generally heals using her staff, was seen shooting projectiles. Other heroes have also gone through similar changes.

Battle pass and Matchmaking changes

With the new season, there is also a new battle pass. Players can stick with the free tier or choose to upgrade for extra cosmetics for characters. Mercy will also be getting the first Mythic skin in the game available through a battle pass called Mythic Vengeance Mercy skin. Alongside that, players can now earn 600 coins.

There are also some matchmaking balances in the new update. For example, players can no longer boost low-rank teammates. Furthermore, it will also try to match the same ranking players first in a solo queue. Bans for leaving the match are also much stricter, giving players long cooldowns for abandoning.
