Getting your hands on the latest Nvidia RTX 50 series graphics card on launch might be hard, especially for those aiming for the top-of-the-line GPUs. The RTX 5090 is set to launch on January 30th, however, as per a post on German forums PC Games Hardware, the availability of the graphics cards will be extremely limited, at least in Germany.

Revealed by Pokerclock, who has sources among dealers, revealed that Nvidia decides everything at launch so availability for the cards will likely be limited. Those who want to try and get one will need to queue with online retailers.

“Anyone who wants to get a 5090 or 5080 at market launch will have to queue digitally at the end customer dealers together with waiting (private) customers. Scalpers and bots will probably also get involved here. The quantities that can be purchased are likely to be limited to a maximum of one unit,” Pokerclock wrote (translated).

RTX 5090 to be available in waves

In case people miss the first wave, they will need to wait a few weeks or even more. As the user mentioned, scalpers are also aiming to get their hands on these GPUs and there are several other factors during an online purchase.

While these are simply rumors, it will come as no surprise if a situation like this arises. Something similar also happened with the RTX 30 series launch a few years back when a lot of GPUs were running low on stock. The cards were extremely popular due to their improvement over previous generations.

The same can also happen with the latest RTX 50 series cards once the third-party benchmarks start appearing in the next few days. If there is a significant uplift in performance and high demand, not only the high-tier RTX 50 series GPU but the entry-level may also face stock issues.
