Nvidia set to produce chips domestically with help from TSMC
Nvidia has decided to start producing its chips within the USA. This move comes after the recent increase in tariffs and increasing tension between Taiwan and China, which can disrupt supply in the long term. As part of this process, the company has announced investing billions over the course of four years to try and rely less upon Asian markets.
“Overall, we will procure, over the course of the next four years, probably half a trillion dollars worth of electronics in total and I think we can easily see ourselves manufacturing several hundred billion of it here in the US,” said Nvidia’s CEO, Jensen Huang, during an interview with the Financial Times. The production is now active in Arizona with the help of TSMC.
Gaming GPUs are likely not Nvidia’s priority
Gaming enthusiasts hoping for an improvement in supply might be disappointed. While Nvidia did not specifically mention which GPUs will see more focus, the company recently revealed its next-gen AI chips. There are also rumours that AI chips for data centres will be much more into focus as they bring big profits compared to the gaming side of their business.
In a recent conference, Huang also shared some numbers revealing Blackwell Chips received over 3.6 million orders from four major cloud firms. The numbers also did not include the orders from Meta. Gaming GPUs are not entirely off the table; however, with how things are going, people should not get their hopes up for the time being.

Are gamers neglected by Nvidia?
The gaming lineup GPU launch from Nvidia was quite disappointing. Low supply and high demand are still a thing and even if the GPUs are available, they are marked much higher than the claimed launch price, making people think twice before making a purchase. With AMD barely competing with Nvidia, people sadly aren’t left with many options.
