Numerous nominees for The Game Awards 2024 may have experienced an increase in sales since their nominations, according to some recently released data. The Game Awards have probably enhanced public interest in games like Astro Bot, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Metaphor: ReFantazio, and others, which has accelerated sales speed.

One of the most prominent gaming events on the calendar is the Game Awards, which honors the top games that are released each year. Even though there are numerous categories for various genres at the Game Awards, including fighting, RPG, action-adventure, indie, mobile, and many more, only one of the greatest games wins the coveted Game of the Year title.

However, this year's nomination of Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Game of the Year among standalone titles sparked significant criticism. Other finalists for Game of the Year 2024 include Balatro, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Astro Bot, and Black Myth: Wukong, in addition to Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth saw the biggest weekly sales

Following the Game Awards' announcement of this nominee list at the start of last week, their sales speed seems to have improved. Christopher Dring from GamesIndustry.biz recently shared GSD data from Europe on Twitter, showing that numerous games nominated in different categories at The Game Awards saw a boost in sales.

Although Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth was released in the beginning of 2024, it saw the biggest weekly sales spike on this list, rising 268%.Metaphor: Astro Bot placed third with 61% higher sales, while ReFantazio came in second with a 172% increase. Despite not winning Game of the Year 2024, Bloober Team's Silent Hill 2 remake experienced a solid 43% rise in sales, and Elden Ring came in second with a 38% increase. However, Dring pointed out in a follow-up tweet that game sales naturally rise over the holiday season every year, suggesting that other factors may have contributed to the rises.
