One of the world's most popular action games, Call of Duty, will now allow users to turn off cross-play. This will help real gamers stay away from cheaters, who are from PC. The game developer Activision has found out that the majority of the cheaters are PC Gamers. During Matchmaking, if the cross-play function is on, PC gamers can play with players who have consoles like PlayStation and XBOX. The Pc Players can easily find cracks, and they often take advantage of the players who play using consoles.

No More cheating in Call of Duty

This is cheating, according to Activision, so they have decided to amend crossplay functionality in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 season 6. This will limit the matchmaking only to consoles, and PC gamers can't play with other platforms. Switching off the Cross play functionality was already available in ranked modes; it will now also be available in multiplayer modes.

The publisher Activision Blizzard released a statement saying, “Commitment to taking down cheat makers, banning bad actors, and ensuring a great player experience. Console cheating is possible, but our data has consistently shown it represents an extremely low population of detected cheaters when compared to PC, which means that this large volume of cheater reports is inaccurate, even if the Kill Cams may have made it seem like the player was cheating.”

Multiplayer now will have three options:

  1. On: Matchmaking to all gaming platforms.
  2. On (Consoles Only): Matchmaking to only consoles.
  3. OFF: Restricts matchmaking to the current gaming platform.

But the biggest issue here will be the queue times, as restricting the matchmaking will increase the queue time, which may also increase frustration. If all players belong to the same console, then it will match with the leader. This new update is a big win for console players but a huge loss to PC gamers.

Activision also said, “More than 20 cheat makers and cheat resellers are out of business due to these efforts. And we are not slowing down.” More than 23% of cheaters are removed from the game even before the launch of the new season. The game devs are also adding additional anti-cheat layers to the game. In January, Activision banned 1,36,000 play accounts. The new season will begin on April 3, 2025.
