Nearly 2 lakh average viewers! PUBG Nations Cup 2024 becomes third-most popular PUBG esports event

Team Korea won the PUBG Nations Cup 2024 for the second year in a row. Their strategy and teamwork have been exceptional in propelling them to the top the tournament.

PUBG Nations Cup 2024 has gained a record viewership. The recently concluded event recorded a viewership of 404,725 - making it the third-most-popular PUBG esports tournament in history. This is a clear indication that the popularity and fanbase of online gaming is growing rapidly.

This year’s Nations Cup was held in Seoul, South Korea, between September 6th and 8th.  A total of 16 countries competed for a prize pool of $300,000 (~£229,000). However, ultimately, it was South Korea who secured the first place.

This is the second year in a row that Team Korea has won the coveted title. Their strategy and teamwork have been exceptional to propel them to the top in the tournament. All the other 15 teams also displayed remarkable skill and dedication throughout the event, contributing to making the event an exciting experience for fans around the world.

According to esports data platform Esports Charts, PUBG Nations Cup 2024  averaged 183,400 viewers and nearly 2.8m watch hours across its 15-hour runtime. As expected, the final between South Korea and runner-up United States was the most-watched match of the tournament.

Nations Cup 2024 has become the second most popular event in its history

Compared to the 2023 edition, the event drew about 140,000 more peak viewers. The 2024 edition became the second-most popular Nations Cup of all time, behind the 2019 edition with 492,700 peak viewers. The majority of PUBG fans watched the event on YouTube (210,326 peak viewers). Other platforms, such as Twitch and Afreeca TV, only saw 70,464 and 45,356 peak viewers, respectively.  

The game’s developer, KRAFTON, congratulated Team Korea on its official website for winning the title for the second consecutive year.

“Team Korea has claimed victory once again, winning the PUBG Nations Cup 2024 back-to-back following their 2023 triumph. Your resilience, strategy, and teamwork have been nothing short of legendary, solidifying your place as one of the top teams in PUBG Nations Cup history,” the statement read.
