The first two groups have now concluded their matches at the ESL Pro League Season 19 quarter-finals. G2 Esports’s and Virtus.pro’s run was cut short after MOUZ and Complexity came out on top of their opponents to reach the semifinals.
Payback for MOUZ
MOUZ, after facing a defeat at the hands of G2 Esports at the PGL Major Copenhagen quarter-finals, have finally got their payback. G2 crushed their opponents in the opening map, not letting MOUZ take any more than three rounds. MOUZ however, returned the favour two-fold.
The following games saw MOUZ take back-to-back matches. The second map saw MOUZ secure 10 rounds in the first half, making the stress of securing rounds in the second half go away. The same went on for the third map, where MOUZ once again stopped their march early on.
xertioN remained the best player throughout all three matches, proving himself as a reliable player. MOUZ was already giving G2 a tough time at the PGL Major and this time, they followed up on their goal, for which fans were also happy.
Complexity comes on top
Complexity has shown some impressive performance this year. The team secured a direct spot to the quarterfinals after defeating the Major Champions NaVi in group stages and have now defeated Virtus.pro in a dominating victory.
While VP fought for their map, the second half was a complete disaster in ancient. VP failed the defence, again and again, handing Complexity the win on a silver platter. EliGE had a huge impact on the first game with 25 kills.
The following map was picked by Complexity, and they did not let VP get ahead on the defending side. With the situation as it was, VP did not get much chance to fight in the second half, leading to another loss, sending Complexity to the semifinals.
