With the regional qualifier concluded, PGL is set to begin the first season of PGL Wallachia, a new entry in the Dota 2 competitive tournament scene featuring a prize pool of $1 million. Dota 2 fans are set to get prime entertainment as multiple big organizers have also announced some big tournaments.

The tournament concluded its regional qualifiers back in March across six regions, with teams emerging to compete in the group stages starting May 10. Out of all qualifying teams, Tundra Esports and Blacklist International were not able to take part and were replaced by MOUZ and Azure Ray. The total team count will remain at 16.

The winner of the tournament will take home $300,000. Matches will be live-streamed across multiple platforms including YouTube, Twitch and Kick in two streams featuring four matches each.

Format

All 16 competing teams in the group stage will play in a modified Swiss-system bracket. Each team will play five matches in the best of three over the next six days. The top 8 teams will qualify for the playoffs while the remaining will return home.

Playoffs will feature a double elimination bracket, and each team in the upper bracket quarterfinals. Losers will drop to the lower bracket round 1 while winners move on to the upper bracket semifinals. One team from the lower bracket and another from the upper bracket will reach the grand finals. All matches will be best of three, while the grand finals will be best of five.
