FaZe Clan and MOUZ have now made their way into the grand finals of Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Chengdu after defeating G2 Esports and Astralis. The winner of the series will secure a direct spot in the IEM Cologne.

After Liquid, Faze stops the new Astralis

The refreshed Astralis lineup was doing wonders in the group stages and also managed to put up a great fight in the semis against Faze Clan. However, it seems that the team still needs a bit more time to adjust. Faze managed to get ahead of Astralis thanks to break and rain.

Despite a lot of back and forth in the first map, Astralis failed to create space while making entries and ended up losing. Faze had good calls on when to save and when to take the fight. The second map in the series is where Astralis shined.

The team had a decent opening in the first half and a dominating second half, not giving Faze any chance leading to the decider map on Inferno which is already known to be a strong place for Faze. Device also had a rough run on Inferno, not being able to find kills and the final round where he was caught in an awkward situation with his knife out.

MOUZ sends G2 home

G2 Esports did not manage to meet the expectations of Chinese crowds who were going crazy on their sport and lost to MOUZ. m0NESY gave his best against their opponents, but one can only do so much.

The first map was on Nuke and MOUZ went crazy with the main highlights being Torzsi and Jimpphat who managed to create an advantage for the team time after time. torzsi also had a sick AWP moment in a 1v2 situation which he did not win but managed to create a great highlight.

Following a loss on their map pick, G2 had to secure the next map to stay in the fight, and they did. With an equalizing half, the G2 roster activated and dominated MOUZ in the second half. m0NESY also proved to be a huge threat.

This win took them to the decider, with both teams going toe to toe in the first half. However, MOUZ managed the best G2 and secured their place in the grand finals.
