Fortnite players, specifically on the PS5, found themselves locked out of the game, and were unable to log in. The issue was caused by a recent PlayStation Network downtime that prevented not only Fortnite but any other game with online requirements, from functioning. Following an entire day of silence, the PSN was once again up and running, allowing players to log in.
Many players initially thought it was some issue with the latest v31.30 update, which added the new Sleep Mode if someone is inactive for 15 minutes. However, an official update from Fortnite revealed that the issue was due to PSN, and other platforms were still functional.
Following that, another update was issued revealing that the PSN network issues which were resolved and players could log back into Fortnite. However, this time, Xbox fans complained about the 95 GB download size of the v31.30 update for a simple sleep mode.

PS5 server outage leaves players in panic
Most of the games nowadays require online connectivity simply due to multiplayer aspects, however, a lot of single-player games also require the same in an attempt to prevent piracy. Due to this, most games were left inaccessible for almost a day.

This is the second time PlayStation has come under fire after their recent blunder with the PS5 dashboard displaying ads. The server outage also came right after the company fixed the dashboard ads, and fans now believe that something might have been messed up during the fix. One by one, all services did come back alive, but the entire ordeal took an entire day.
Thankfully, this happened on a weekday, so most people were at work. However, the same can’t be said for others who expressed their displeasure about the server issues over social media.
